There seems to be a lot of inconsistency with the Valkyrie model numbers. The basic model number is in the lower left corner of the VIN plate. This will usually be something like "GL1500CT". An extended number was sometimes written on the price tag by the dealer and may appear in the paperwork that came with the bike at the time of purchase.

The inconsistency in the extended numbers may be due to a lack of attention on the part of the dealers when they wrote down the numbers, or some of them may have been transposed when they were submitted for this article. In any case, below is a breakdown of the Valkyrie model numbers as best I can decipher. It should be noted that the numbers in the model number are not always in the order shown, and sometimes the "C" is omitted for the Tourer models.
