On these pages we have attempted to collect available material about the Valkyrie's genealogy. Most of it is taken from the former website valkyrienorway.com which has been used as a reference for Valkyrie enthusiasts worldwide for years. It was the result of painstaking work by former VRCC Norway country rep. Dag Verpeide.

The genealogy pages came about after a long collaboration between Dag and VRCC member RP Brown from the USA who was passionate about this work. The last registered work of RP is from 2007, and therefore there is little data about the Valkyrie GL1800 on these pages, beyond excerpts from various articles that have been found in recent times. If you possess material that can help clarify the production history of the GL1800 or the other models, we would appreciate it if you could send what you have to: info (at) vrcc.no

Introduction by RP Brown, VRCC #7422

Have you ever wondered what all those numbers on your bike's nameplate mean? OK, probably not, but I did. I wondered if it related to some important genetic data about my bike. Did it explain why the '97 models are supposedly faster? Did it indicate something about the color, or the configuration, or the day it was built, or anything else of critical importance?

All these questions took over and I finally set about solving the puzzle. I went back through every magazine article I could find about the Valkyries. I talked to Honda, I started getting VIN numbers from every bike I could (dealers look at you funny when you do this). I searched online, and I pestered members of the Valkyrie Owners Association and the Valkyrie Riders Cruiser Club (of which I am a member) to get their VIN numbers.

Admittedly, hard facts about Valkyrie production are difficult to find. There are many rumors and assumptions, but little that can be documented. I have tried to put together everything I have read, heard or personally observed, and will try to create a system accordingly. It is my hope that this will become the basis for a more complete production history of the Valkyrie.
