Great interest in Honda Valkyrie at the fair

04.03.2026

Written by: Tommy Valkyrie

Thanks to Goldwingspesialisten , Blikkenslager Kevin Nystad and Tom R. Oppegaard for their assistance that made our participation possible!

Thanks to Skiltmakeriet run by member Ole Kristian Bø for manufacturing VRCC merch such as LED lamps, engraved coasters, cutting boards, etc. He also makes clothing with our logo. The products developed by VRCC Norway can be found in our online store.

Background story

In the fall of 2025, a proposal came from member Kai Roar Dahl that VRCC Norway should exhibit at the 2026 MC Fair. We thought this was a good idea. Since the club has limited funds, we started a member fundraiser to collect money for a booth. The members got behind the initiative, and by Christmas time it became clear that VRCC Norway would participate in the MC Fair for the very first time. See below for more pictures and videos from the fair.

The goal of participating was to showcase the beautiful Valkyries to a large audience, and thus hopefully create greater national involvement with subsequent recruitment to the community. This is work that benefits all members. The more bikes and committed owners we have, the greater the likelihood that we will also be able to benefit from a network in the years to come that can continue to help each other with parts, technical advice, etc. An active community also provides motivation to sales and service points, and manufacturers of spare parts and accessories. They will then naturally see the value in maintaining their knowledge and continued production. Without recruitment, the community will eventually die out. It would then be difficult to continue using the Valkyrie as a daily rider, as we are so fortunate to be able to do today.

Approximately 25,000 visitors over three days gave the club good exposure. We spoke to a large number of people who showed interest in the bikes and our community. Most were very curious, and spent a lot of time looking and asking questions. In addition, we hope that this will yield a return in the form of increased bike sales, increased participation in activities, and that we can maintain a reasonable price level for the bikes in the future.

The bikes we had on display:

The bike is originally a 1999 Standard. She has covered 80,400 miles (128,400 km) and is named Valborg. The owner is Kai Roar Dahl from Lunner.

He bought her in 2017, and she has undergone significant upgrades over the years. Some examples are a fantastic motif paint job by Maria Elena Lakkdama, a complete instrument package from Motosens and the characteristic red valve covers that he designed to give the bike a distinctive and personal touch. In terms of performance, a 6° trigger wheel and a Dynojet stage 1 kit have been installed. Valborg was originally yellow and black.

Kai Roar has received a number of first prizes for the bike at events and exhibitions over the years. Despite Valborg being able to take the podium at the Miss Universe of motorcycles, she is steadily being taken on long trips. In the summer of 2026 she will ride to InZane in Germany together with Kai Roar and 23 other Valkyrie enthusiasts from Norway.

The bike is a 2000 Interstate in excellent shape. She has done 48,000 miles (77,300 km) and is named Brynhild. The owner is Tommy Ole Skår from Jevnaker. She is a beautiful lady in the rare colors Pearl Blue and Pearl Silver. Only 500 Interstates were produced for the world market in this color combination in 2000, and as far as we know, less than a handful have found their way to Norway.

He bought her in 2024, and she is his second Valkyrie. The first one was a Tourer, but as Tommy got a taste for longer trips, the need for more luggage space arose. When this beauty appeared for sale at Goldwingspesialisten, a trade-in agreement was quickly made. The modifications so far involve a lot of chrome, and there will certainly be even more in the future. Tommy was lucky enough to receive a set of velocity stacks as a 50th birthday gift from his loved one! Tommy doesn't do much mechanical work himself, so his bikes get the necessary service and inspection from Kjell Brohaug at Goldwingspesialisten. Both he and I agree that our precious jewels are in the best hands there!

The bike is a 1997 Tourer. The owner is (was) our deputy CR Per Arne Olsen from Nittedal.

He bought her in 2018 in Oakland California, and imported her himself as bike number 3 in the series. She became the perfect bike for his beloved Else Karethe, who has ridden her faithfully for the last 8 years and participated in several meetings and activities organized by VRCC Norway. Under Per Arne's expert hands, she has received the best care over the years. She appears today as a very pretty and well-kept lady.

Else has not had much time to ride in recent years. Although she is very fond of the Valkyrie, she has therefore wanted a slightly smaller bike. She has now purchased a 2007 BMW GS 1200, and the Valkyrie was therefore put up for sale at the fair. There was enormous interest, and we could probably sell her 10 times if we had the chance. Therefore, she is now ready to serve a new lucky owner this spring. We still expect to see Else at our events in the future, and in true VRCC spirit she is just as welcome if she comes with another bike. We hope that the new owner will be a welcome addition to the club.

The preparations

During the preparations for the fair, we were lucky enough to get some help. Goldwingspesialisten at Maura sponsored us with the loan of his great enclosed motorcycle trailer, so that we could transport the bikes dry and snow-free to and from the fair. To pull it, we needed a big car with four-wheel drive, and we were able to borrow this from Blikkenslager Kevin Nystad at Lena. Crew members Per Arne and Kai Roar provided invaluable help during shipping and booth rigging.

Tom R. Oppegaard contributed by letting us use the truck wash at Transportsentralen Lillestrøm, lending us a parking space, and transporting the crew to and from the fair every day.

The Crew
We were lucky enough to have a loyal and dedicated crew with us:

Per Arne Olsen is the club's loyal deputy CR, and also contributes a lot of photos to the club. He is a licensed drone pilot, and you can often see him on the road in the summer with his beautiful green metallic Valkyrie with trailer on his way to a photo mission. When he has the opportunity, he helps other members with technical advice and carburetor synchronization. He is also behind the production of the new generation of velocity stacks, swingarm covers and the brand new F6 chrome timing belt covers. You can order these in our online store.
Kai Roar Dahl is a committed member, who does everything he can to market the club and the community using his refined and brilliant talking skills in all possible and impossible channels. With his winning nature and his irresistible sales charm, he can talk the most die-hard Harley fan into a Valkyrie. He is a loyal participant at our meetings and events and is a great representative of the community
Anne Mette Karlsen, another committed member and Per Arne's sister. In addition to riding a Valkyrie, she does all the mechanical work herself, and willingly shares her expertise with other members. She has an indomitable drive, and an infectiously inclusive nature. She is also the driving force behind Brygghuset MC in Fredrikstad, where every Tuesday she opens the "social office" for the city's stray MC birds. Her bike has appeared in the international VRCC calendar, and it is her photo that is the background image on the "home" page on vrcc.no.
Mia Lill Spaberg Oppegaard is my daughter, the club mascot and perhaps the most committed member we have at the age of 14. She started her career in the back seat of Dad's Interstate at the age of 8. To date, she has covered about 50.000 miles (80,000 km) in the saddle, and ridden a bike in 16 countries. She participates and helps out at almost all meetings and events, and is not afraid to bite back with a smile if the guys pull a dirty joke. Now she will soon ride a smaller bike a few years, but she has already made plans to build her completely unique and the world's only Hello Kitty Valkyrie!
Tommy Valkyrie Oppegaard, the club's leader (CR) since 2019. I get involved in most things that concern the club's operations, and am the creator and admin of the new website vrcc.no. Together with European President Andy Schöler, I am the admin of valkyrieriders.eu, and together with VRCC Germany CR Ronny Bergner, I am the admin and co-responsible for the development of the new VRCC Member Network Map. When I am not doing this or organizing a biker event for VRCC or at my bikers meeting ground Bikers Heaven, you can find me on the road with my faithful Miss Piggy, a 1999 Interstate that I ride both in challenging forest and mountain roads.
As a tribute to the motorcycle and the community that has given me so much joy for many years, in 2024 I took the plunge and changed my official name to Tommy Valkyrie!

As an extra reward for our work, we walked away with the title of best club booth at the fair!

Celebrity visit

On Saturday, hotel manager and 5th generation host Lars Arne Straand from Norway's leading biker hotel Straand Hotell in Vrådal dropped by our booth. A very nice reunion after we organized our first European Valkyrie meeting InZane Norway 2024 at the hotel. Throughout the process, we had close cooperation with the staff for over a year. It was a very pleasant experience of goodwill and facilitation that made it easy for us as the organizer. The meeting with 170 participants from 16 countries over 4 days went without any organizational problems, and the guests gave the hotel 5 stars for the experience.

After a pleasant conversation, it was agreed that VRCC Norway will invite members and friends to Straand's new Christmas party concept for motorheads in 2026. This is a gathering of enthusiasts from several clubs and branches within the car and motorcycle world. Here there will be an opportunity for good stories and networking between like-minded people. We look forward to participating, and not least to experiencing the fantastic food again!

The fair days

The response to the participation was beyond all expectations. Already 10 minutes after the doors opened on Friday, we had a queue of visitors at our booth. It continued like this over the weekend. The pictures below speak for themselves. The crew did a fantastic job, and took care of all interested parties with confidence, knowledge and enthusiasm. We will be very surprised if this does not lead to significantly greater interest in the club and the community during the times ahead.

Thank you for taking the time to read all this. Now I invite you to browse through the last photos and watch the video from the booth. Thank you for your attention, and I hope to see you at the next VRCC event!
